A decent crowd attended Buchanan Park on Saturday to enjoy a good afternoon of racing, though the new committee was keen to pay tribute to its predecessors with the name of Race 1 being A Big Thanks To The Previous Committee Maiden Plate over 1200m.

Tanya Perry’s Made to Win lived up to its name with Keith Ballard steering the horse to victoryby two lengths from favourite American At Sea with Veganer back in third.

The favourite did better in Race 2 the 1200mA Warm Welcome To The New Committee with new committee president Dan Ballard riding Garth Tully’s Infinite Success to another aptly named win.

Dad Keith Ballard was second on Tanya Perry’sFast Track Magic with Potholes finishing third.

The practicallynamed races continued withRace 3 beingthe Now Taking Melbourne Cup Day Bookings Benchmark 50 Handicap over the longer distance of 1450m.

Tasha Chambers guided Kerry Krogh’s Frisco Journey to a comfortable win by 4.5 lengths with Keith Ballard getting another second on More Dust with By Emteeare third.

Trainer Bob Burow had a win in Race 4 the MIRC Make Us Your Xmas Party Destination Benchmark 60 Handicap over 1000m.

His horse I’m Desperate Too gave another win to jockeyKeith Ballard by half a length from Shryn Gabriel-Royce’s Head Dragon with Sparkling Vixen finishing third.

The Ballards kept it in the family in Race 5, the final race of the day, the CNW For All Of Your Electrical and Data Needs Open Handicap over 1100m.

Dan Ballard grabbed his double aboard mum Denise’s Travel in Style winning by a head from the Bob Burow-trained Mossale with Scott McCullum aboard. Keith Ballard made it a full meeting of place getting finishing third on Garth Tully’s Whispering Death.

Next racing at Mount Isa is Tuesday November 1 –Melbourne Day.
