While some news reports suggested the embattled NBC presenter would receive $US10 million ($13 million) to leave the Today show, his lawyer, Marshall Grossman, said “that figure had not been discussed”.

Other media outlets speculated a payout of $US9 million.

The settlement, expected as early as Monday, is the result of the leaked 2005 Access Hollywood videotape showing Bush and Donald Trump making lewd and sexually aggressive remarks about women.

Bush was suspended by the network after he and Trump could be heard on open mics discussing Trump’s efforts to seduce women, particularly female celebrities.

At various times, Bush is heard laughing or egging on the real-estate tycoon.

NBC initially planned to make Bush apologise on national television but instead they pulled him from the broadcast. Soon after they suspended him.

Bush hired Mr Grossman, a high profile litigator for Hollywood stars, to negotiate his exit.

Mr Grossman told CNN on Friday night that negotiations between Bush and NBC were “ongoing”.

CNN reported a source saying that Bush’s exit from NBC could be announced as early as Monday.

Bush’s contract was reportedly worth more than $US3 million a year for the next three years.

He had joined the 9am hour of the Today show a few months before the videotape was revealed.

Bush turned 45 on Wednesday and had planned to celebrate the milestone with his fellow Today show hosts and crew on Saturday but it was reportedly cancelled.
