David Curkpatrick raises the flag to declare sailing season officially open.

Spirited has not has its sailing debut as yet, but will possibly hit the water later in the month.

The first Club Championship will be held on Saturday 22 October.

The day will begin with alunch of salad rolls or pastriesat 12pm, followed by the race from 2pm-3pm and then drinks and nibbles.

There will be a casserole and curry dinner from 6.30pm-7pm.

Lacepede Bay Sailing Club’s upcoming Club Championships and social dinners for 2016will be held on12 November, 3 December and 17 December.

Dinners are open to the public,with all encouraged to attend and support the club.

During sailing season, one race is conducted every Saturday at 2pm, weather permitting,and is generally45 minutes in duration.

The Club also boasts a large‘cat fleet’of eight to 10catamaran, and is one of the only clubs in SA that has eight cats regularly sailing.

“I think overall we just enjoy ourselves, and it’s friendly rivalry, but it makes it all good fun,” said David.

“I just hope we all enjoy our sailing again this year and have some good weather.”
